Six Guinness Cocktails to Prepare for St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and roughly 13 million pints of Guinness will be consumed world-wide. Yes. You read that correctly. Roughly 13 Million pints of Guinness will be consumed on St. Patrick’s Day. To add a bit of flare to this Guinness drinking holiday, we have provided six different cocktails prepared with the black stuff that you can create in minutes. Enjoy and remember to drink responsibly.

Guinness Black Velvet
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Ingredients:
Half a flute of champagne and half flute of Guinness Extra Stout
Description
The story goes that Guinness® Extra Stout and Champagne were first combined to mark Prince Albert’s death in 1861, when the steward at Brook’s Club in London ordered that even the Champagne should be in mourning, dressed all in black.

A curiously silky, velvety drink where the effervescence and dry biscuit notes of sparkling wine provide a curious coupling with Guinness® Extra Stout, served in a Champagne flute for a touch of decadence.

Guinness Parts Unknown
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
1.5 oz. Zacapa® Rum, 0.5 oz. lemon, 0.75 oz. Crème de Cassis, 0.25 oz. Orgeat, Guinness® Draught
Description
Combine all ingredients except Guinness in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain over fresh ice in a highball glass. Top with Guinness® Draught.

Guinness with blackcurrant is a classic combination. The blackcurrant flavor balances the bitterness of the stout and complements the natural dark fruit flavors.

In this drink we have created a tropical style drink, which would be at home in a Tiki Lounge as well as a pub.

Guinness Dean Swift
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
1 oz. Johnnie Walker Whisky®, 2 oz. Guinness® Foreign Extra Stout, 1 oz. Claret or Bordeaux style wine, 0.25 oz. Demerara syrup, 1 teaspoon Allspice Dram Liqueur, Grated nutmeg
Description
This is a warm cocktail served in an Irish coffee goblet. Combine all the ingredients except the whisky in a saucepan and heat the liquid. Pour into a preheated glass and add Johnnie Walker® Whisky to the top. Grate with fresh nutmeg and enjoy.

This drink is a variation of the Bishop, a traditional 19th century warm wine punch. In this version, we included Irish whiskey and Guinness® Foreign Extra Stout, which add a beautiful malty character. This is delicious when made with Guinness® Draught as well.

This drink can be made as a single serve or as a larger warm punch for parties. A crock pot on the lowest setting will keep the cocktail mixture warm for an extended period.
